While we’re excited to be celebrating Homecoming, it’s important for us to do so in a safe and socially distant manner — and that has required some reimagining of our traditions in light of current circumstances.
One tradition that has not changed is the decorating of campus. Student Affairs staff photographer Sam O’Keefe captured some of the decorations in the gorgeous autumn sun.
Although Saturday’s game against Vanderbilt is postponed, the Mizzou Alumni Association will hold its previously planned events this week as we celebrate the spirit of Homecoming. All events will take place as planned, but virtual celebrations will extend through October 31 when we crown Homecoming Royalty during the home game against Kentucky.
Traditional decorations will continue going up this week. Students and campus organizations bring the spirit of Homecoming to Columbia’s downtown through Decorate the District Thursday Oct. 15-Sunday Oct. 18, painting store-front murals and windows with Mizzou-themed artwork.
A virtual spirit rally will also take place Thursday while Friday will see four high-achieving alumni inducted to the Mizzou Hall of Fame.
